Game Overview
Friday Night Funkin' (FNF) is a rhythm music game developed by a team of four Newgrounds creators. Initially created for the 47th Ludum Dare game jam in 2020, it was officially released on November 1, 2020, and quickly became one of the most popular games on Newgrounds. The game is open-source, supporting web, offline, and local network play.
Core Gameplay
- Rhythm Battles: Players control "Boyfriend" using arrow keys (↑, ↓, ←, →) or WASD keys to press corresponding arrows when they overlap on-screen markers
- Health Bar & Scoring: A shared health bar determines the battle. Accuracy is graded as Sick!!, Good!, Bad, Shit, or Miss
- Week Progression: The game's story is divided into "Weeks," each featuring a unique opponent and 3-4 songs
